Sedation Dentistry
Enjoy a Stress Free Experience With Sedation Dentistry
At Winner Dental, we understand that a visit to the dentist can cause anxiety for some patients. That’s why we’ve made it our goal to make your dental procedure go as smooth as possible. Sedation options are available to help you stay stress-free and calm while you’re being treated, whether it’s for a routine filling, root canal, or something else.
Types of Sedation Dentistry We Offer
The most common forms of sedation dentistry requested in our Winner dental office include:
Laughing Gas
Also known as nitrous oxide, this gas is delivered through a mask that fits over your nose. It works quickly to give you a sense of relaxation. Once your procedure is complete, we’ll take you off the nitrous until you feel like your normal self again. Laughing gas has no lingering effects, so you can drive yourself home and go on about your day like normal.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is available in pill form. This medication requires a bit of time to become effective so we generally have you take it before you arrive or in our office about an hour before the procedure. Once it takes effect, you’ll feel very relaxed and at ease.
The effects of the medication do linger for a few hours, so you’ll need to have someone drive you home and stay with you for the remainder of the day.
IV Sedation
If you have severe anxiety and want to feel “asleep” during your dental treatment, then IV sedation is the best option for you. We’ll place an IV line in your arm to administer a dose of sedative medication. You’ll be able to rest comfortably during the procedure and afterwards you probably won’t have any recollection of your treatment.
Patients who receive IV sedation must have a driver with them, because the medication will cause them to feel groggy for quite a while.
